Wind damage does not always mean a roof full of missing shingles. In many cases, the damage is more subtle but just as damaging over time.

Here are some of the most common signs our team looks for during a wind damage inspection:

Missing Shingles: High winds can pull shingles off the roof entirely, leaving the underlayment and roof deck exposed to rain and moisture.

Lifted or Peeling Shingles: Wind can break the adhesive seal that holds shingles flat, causing edges to lift. Once the seal is broken, those shingles are vulnerable to future wind events and water infiltration.

Creased or Folded Shingles: Strong gusts can bend shingles back on themselves, creasing the material and compromising its ability to shed water properly.

Damaged Flashing: Wind can loosen or separate the flashing around chimneys, vents, skylights, and roof edges, creating entry points for water even when the shingles themselves appear intact.

Granule Loss: Wind-driven debris and the flexing of shingles during a storm can accelerate granule loss, reducing the protective layer on your asphalt shingles.

Soft Metal Damage: Gutters, downspouts, vents, and other metal components on your roof and exterior can sustain damage during high wind events, which is often an indicator that the roof itself warrants a closer look.

Debris Impact Damage: Tree branches, limbs, and other debris carried by wind can puncture or crack roofing materials on impact.
